Statement of purpose: To provide regular professional development days in Sydney which will give members the opportunities for skills development and networking. To support regional museum educator groups in their efforts to provide training for local members.

  4. MAEd New Term 3 Professional Development Day
    “Building Relations with Schools: projects and promotions”

    Want to have teachers book your education programs?
    Want them to come year after year?
    To see your heritage site as providing unique learning opportunities for their students and to collaborate with you on many diverse educational projects?
    For the students themselves to view your site and heritage generally as a safe and exciting place to learn?

    Be inspired to try a range of strategies to engage students and teachers alike, and to build ongoing school-museum relationships.
    Network with other Education Officers.
    Experiment with new ideas for projects and promotions for the heritage sites from around the Macquarie Town of Windsor.
    Scheduled for Term 3 so you have the time to create new promotional material before the Term 4 mail outs.

    A series of activity sessions throughout the old Quarantine Station on how to use drama (plays, role play, storytelling), music (tunes, making music, dancing), games and demonstrations (science and art), to interpret and express educational content and skills.
